If a repair doesn't go according to plan, the customer will come back - and definitely not in a friendly mood. Try your hand as a painter - you can do it properly or do it cheap, it's all up to you! Painting over rust never killed anybody. If it's round enough, that means it can be a steering wheel! Your wallet is empty, so original parts are out of the question. A sponge will do the job just as well as an air filter, and if you can't see the difference, why pay extra?
